1. Create a page
Assuming you already have a Facebook account, this should be your first step. On the left side of your Facebook home page, you will see the option of Pages, click on it and in the new page that opens up, click on the Create Page button on top right. Facebook will require various details like the page name, category and business address.
You will then need to add profile and cover photos, add a description and various other details. Once the setup is done, you can invite your friends to like the page, as well as add a button to contact you (message, call, email etc.). Keep in mind that you will have to actively update your page with product details and offers to increases followers and eventually generate sales.
2. Find and join active groups
Since your page/group is relatively new, it will take some time to gain traction and increase members. In the meantime, you should join other active groups on Facebook relevant to your business or product. There are a number of groups on Facebook with thousands of members actively selling or buying products on them.
You can join such groups and share your products for sale —make sure you check with the group administrator for any rules or restrictions before posting. People who like your products will automatically be interested to join your group or like your business page to stay updated on your offers.
3. Make a group
A Facebook group is the space where various people who like your product can interact with each other. While having a group may not be deemed necessary for business use, it is still recommended that you make one. Having an open group helps establish trust between members to invite more people and engage in discussions including feedback on your business/product.
The process of creating a group is similar to the page—you will see the groups option on the left side of the home page and then a button to create a new group. You can choose to create the group as open, closed or secret—we recommend keeping it an open group. Just like the page, make sure you are active on the group and reply to all queries to help boost your business and reduce complaints or bad reviews.
4. Use facebook marketplace
Facebook Marketplace is an open platform hosted by Facebook itself for sale and purchase of products. You can head to https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/learn-more to join the Facebook Marketplace. The marketplace lets you list products for sale under various categories – you have to mention a price and once the product is live, interested buyers will contact you via Facebook messenger chat. You can then discuss payment and delivery method directly. Facebook does not take any charges for this.
Using Facebook ads
So, how do you make sure your target audience sees your page amongst the hundred other pages? The answer to this question is, use Facebook Ads. Facebook lets you promote various elements of your Facebook page depending on your target requirement, you can set up ad to get more likes, increase engagement, get more people to call or message you as well as generally increase awareness about your brand.
All of this can be done from your business page. There is a promote button on the bottom left which lets you create an ad. It is a simple step by step process and the only thing you have to do is clarify your target audience for the ad and use appropriate keywords to attract potential customers. You can even setup a daily budget or a one-time budget for your ads.
We recommend trying out various permutation and combinations to see which keywords and target audience works best for your business. You can see detailed graphs of how the ad performed with the given budget in the promotions page at any time.
