JSW Group set to enter the e-commerce market by scaling up its JSW One initiative – The Economic Times

As part of its e-commerce foray, JSW Group will also extend JSW One platform to influencers in the home-construction industry including contractors, masons, engineers, architects, painters enabling them to grow their respective businesses.

MUMBAI: JSW Group will be investing around Rs 700 crore to foray into e-commerce business by scaling up its JSW One initiative as a tech-based solutions platform for its customers. As an e-commerce player, JSW Group will service the needs of both B2B as well as B2C customers.

“Though the penetration of e-commerce in the home building segment is still in its nascent stage, it shows high growth potential. JSW Group intends to play a significant role in this segment,” the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

As part of its e-commerce foray, JSW Group will also extend JSW One platform to influencers in the home-construction industry including contractors, masons, engineers, architects, painters enabling them to grow their respective businesses.

“JSW One will integrate all Influencer loyalty programmes currently offered across its Steel, Cement & Paints businesses,” the company said in a statement.

JSW Group in August 2020 announced combining its distribution and supply chain expertise across the Steel & Cement businesses under an integrated JSW One initiative. JSW Group has a presence in Steel, Cement & Paints business in India.

The company is also exploring strategic collaborations with other non-competing branded building material products like sanitaryware, kitchens home accessories with a view to offering a holistic shopping experience for its home-building consumers.

Other Top steelmakers too have ramped up their digital platform after the viral pandemic led lockdown limited face-to-face interaction.

Tata Steel has an online platform, Aashiyana which is currently available at 13000 pin codes out of 27000 and has 90% districts covered.

“Gross revenue generated through Aashiyana, the online platform for individual home builders surged to Rs 222 crores in the third quarter, registering a growth of 40% q-o-q and 134% y-o-y,” the company said in a statement.

State-ownedSteel Authority of IndiaNSE -0.07 % recently launched Sail Suraksha, an online store for selling steel.

“One can place an order from anywhere, with our e-portal,” said the company during the launch.

JSW One commenced operations in the East region in 2020 and is now being planned for a pan-India scale-up as a full-fledged technology platform. It will derive synergies to benefit the three businesses by streamlining and maximizing the depth and expanse of JSW Group’s sales and supply chain network.
