Non-resident Indians (NRIs) with Aadhaar cards can register for National Pension System (NPS) online. Through eNPS, anyone can register for an NPS pension account using his or her Aadhaar card or PAN card, as well as bank account verification. Any Aadhaar holder between the ages of 18 and 60 who has their mobile number registered with Aadhaar can enrol in the National Pension System online.

Pre -requisites

  • Aadhaar
  • Age between 18 -60 years
  • Mobile number registered with Aadhaar
  • Internet-enabled Bank Account

Note: Tier II accounts will not be allowed under eNPS for NRIs

Steps to follow for Aadhaar-based e NPS.
Step 1: Visit PFRDA/NPS Trust website and select “eNPS.”
To begin the registration procedure, click the “Registration” button and select “New Registration.”
Step 2: Select ‘ Non-Resident Indian (NRI)’ as the account type, then “Repatriable” or “Nonrepatriable” as the account type, and “Aadhaar” as the choice for registering with.
Step 3: Click Generate OTP after entering your passport number and Aadhaar number.
Now, enter the OTP that was sent to the Aadhaar-registered mobile number and select Continue.
Step 4: Select a bank from the list of banks for bank verifications and submit NRE/NRO account data for repatriable eNPS accounts.
OR, for non-repatriable eNPS accounts, fill out bank account information from any bank and submit NRE/ NRO account information on a self-declaration basis.
Step 5: Demographic information and a photograph will be retrieved from the Aadhaar database and entered into an online form.
Step 6: Fill in the rest of the required information in other tabs.

Personal Information

  • Fill in your first and last name, as well as the names of your father and mother.
  • Aadhaar will be immediately considered as identity verification if you provide your phone number and e-mail address. Enter your date of birth and choose a proof from the drop-down menu.
  • Select ‘Generate Acknowledgement No’ from the drop-down menu.
  • You can either continue or use this Acknowledgement No to submit the details in an other tab later.

Contact details
In this step, the address will be retrieved from the Aadhaar database and shown. It is not possible to edit the same.
To proceed, click the “Save & Proceed” option.

Bank and other details

  • Choose an occupation and related details from the drop-down menu.
  • Fill in the information for your bank account. The name of the bank should be the same as the one you chose at the start.
  • For a repatriable eNPS NRI account, you must choose one of the empaneled banks for verification and submit your NRE/ NRO account data (list of empaneled banks available on http://www.enps.nsdl.com).
  • Details of any NRE/NRO account of any bank may be filled on a self-declaration basis in the case of Non-repatriable eNPS NRI Account
  • Click on “Save & Proceed” button to continue.

Scheme & Nomination Details

  • Choose a ‘Pension Fund Manager’ and an investment option (Active or Auto).
  • In the event of Active Choice, please state the proportion of each asset class’s allocation.
  • You have the option of nominating up to three people and deciding on their percentage share.
  • To proceed, click the “Save & Proceed” option.

Photo & Signature Details
You have the option of uploading a different image in place of the Aadhaar database image. o Scan your ‘Signature’ and ‘Photograph’ and upload them (should be in .jpg format and size of image should be between 4kb and 12 kb).

Payment details

  • Make an initial donation through the internet (Minimum amount of Rs. 500).
  • You will be forwarded to the payment gateway after submitting the payment information.
  • You will be assigned a Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) after making a successful payment.
  • If you have a Repatriable eNPS NRI account, you must make subsequent contributions through the account you supplied during the registration procedure.
  • Contributions to a non-repatriable eNPS NRI account can be made using any channel, including net banking, credit card, and debit card.
